Kim St. Onge
Kim St. Onge is a reporter for News Channel 8 and joined the KCCI team in July 2012. Before coming to KCCI, Kim worked as an anchor and reporter at KOMU-TV, the NBC affiliate in Columbia, Missouri.
Highlights in the last few years include reporting on the Joplin tornado. She was there for the first day of the mall turned new Joplin High School and returned for the one-year anniversary this past May.
The most impactful story she has covered was the Bridgeton tornado, which caused significant damage to St. Louis- Lambert International Airport, surrounding businesses and homes. Kim spoke with a husband and wife who lost their family-owned business in the tornado. The couple's positive outlook on life despite the devastating situation was inspirational.
As a graduate of the University of Missouri School of Journalism, Kim loves cheering on the tigers. She studied abroad in Brussels, Belgium where she interned at Reuters. Kim covered the EU debt crisis, as well as attended NATO and EU summits.
Kim enjoys cooking, walks in the park and making crafts. She also enjoys volunteering. In the past, Kim volunteered at Columbia Second Chance, a no-kill animal shelter for cats and dogs.
As a sports enthusiast, she enjoys watching football, baseball (Go Cards!) and basketball games-- and prays daily for the Rams. Kim considers herself adventurous and always open to new experiences-- including when she went skydiving over the Mississippi River three years ago!
Born and raised in St. Louis, Kim is no stranger to 'The Hawkeye State.' She has family in Iowa and grew up making trips from St. Louis to the Quad Cities visiting her grandmother.
