Note: Holiday Deadlines are subject to change. Obituaries can be placed on mlive.com the same day they are received and made ready, if requested. If you are a private party (not a funeral home) submitting a prepaid obituary, please provide us with the following information:
All private party obituaries are prepaid. Once the obituary is processed, someone will contact you with the cost and request a credit/debit card number. We must verify the death prior to publication; therefore, we also need the Funeral Home or Cremation Society Name and Phone Number handling the arrangements. We also need to have approval from the next of kin to run the obituary prior to publication. If the person submitting the obituary is not the next of kin (or power of attorney), we will need the next of kin’s name and phone number to verbally verify permission. Next of kin is considered a spouse, adult child, or parent. Please email private party obituaries at least one hour prior to deadline, in order for us to make the necessary phone calls. All obituaries run online at www.mlive.com/obituaries unless otherwise specified. They appear online for one year; they also feature Guest Books for comments. |
