Course Instructor

The instructor of the course is Dr Maria Todd, author of four technical books on medical tourism, including The Handbook of Medical Tourism Program Development, and the developer of the world’s largest globally integrated health delivery system® designed especially to work as a medical tourism provider network.

Dr Todd understands medical tourism from every aspect. She has worked as a nurse in the operating theatre and as a hospital and rehabilitation clinic executive. Maria also has years of practical work experience as a travel agent, tour operator, hotel developer, and medical tourism referral coordinator.

She and her team of experienced healthcare quality and safety consultants prepare hospitals around the world for quality and safety surveys under a number of accrediting bodies. In other projects, she and her team of health tourism business development experts work with hospitals and clinics to refine targeted marketing messages and branding reputation and awareness campaigns.

Maria has provided consultation and training to government officials, investors, hospital managers and executives, physicians, hotels and thermal resorts and sanatoria in more than 100 countries on six continents.
She has negotiated with all of the large multi-national health insurance and assistance companies as an advocate for hospitals and clinics. She reviews and negotiates more than 1500 contracts every year for clients.
