Charlie Austin - F - Queens Park Rangers

Junior Hoilett and Charlie Austin each scored twice as QPR beat Shamrock Rovers 4-0 in a pre-season friendly at Tallaght Stadium.

Harry Redknapp fielded an attacking 3-5-2 line-up, with Hoilett operating in the hole behind Austin and Bobby Zamora in attack, which could be how QPR choose to start the season. Austin was the star of last season's promotion push and many people are tipping him to have a big impact in the Premier League as QPR look to avoid dropping straight back down the Championship. He grabbed two goals here, while Hoilett also looked sharp, scoring a brace himself as the London side won comfortably.

Robin Van Persie - F - Manchester United

Dutch international Robin van Persie will miss the start of the Premier League season as he works his way into shape after his post-World Cup layoff.

Hopes have been high for van Persie coming off a strong World Cup and with his international manager now taking the reigns at Old Trafford. Throw in a cheap price (for him) and all the makings of a great value play were in place. Fantasy managers will have to wait for RvP to build up his fitness again. It is likely he'll miss no more than a week or two.

Glenn Murray - F - Crystal Palace

Glenn Murray scored again but Crystal Palace were defeated 3-2 by Brentford in an entertaining friendly.

Palace had initially gone 2-0 behind before fighting back thanks to goals from Murray and Marouane Chamakh. As we've mentioned here previously, Murray's return to full fitness after a full pre-season is a huge boost for the Eagles, as the striker missed the majority of the last season after suffering a cruciate ligament injury. Brentford ended up winning this one thanks to a late goal, but it was a good work out for a strong Palace side.

Frank Lampard - M - Manchester City

Manchester City have secured former Chelsea midfielder Frank Lampard on a six-month loan deal.

36-year-old Lampard signed for New York City last month on a two-year contract after his release from Chelsea, but has been loaned out to the MLS franchise owners Manchester City, in a move that will surprise everyone. How much game time the midfielder will get when competing against the likes of Yaya Toure, Fernando, Fernandinho, David Silva, Samir Nasri, James Milner and Jesus Navas remains to be seen, but Manuel Pellegrini insists this is no a publicity stunt. "From next week, Wednesday, he will start working with our team and he will be with us until January," said the manager in his press conference. "He is working with the squad. He will fight for his position."

Eric Dier - D - Tottenham Hotspur

Tottenham have completed the signing of Sporting Lisbon defender Eric Dier.

Dier was born in England but moved to Portugal at 10 years of age and has stayed in Lisbon since joining the club's academy as a teenager. The defender has represented England at Under-21 level, can play at centre-back, right-back or defensive midfield and joins Tottenham on a five year deal for a £4million fee. His arrival could push Michael Dawson closer to the exit door, with a move to Hull remaining a possibility.

Emmanuel Adebayor - F - Tottenham Hotspur

Tottenham beat Celtic 6-1 in a pre-season friendly in Helsinki.

So Spurs continue their good pre-season form with a thumping win over a depleted Celtic side. The goals came from Harry Kane, Roberto Soldado, Lewis Holtby, Erik Lamela and Christian Eriksen, before Adebayor's scored the sixth goal from the penalty spot on his first appearance since recovering from malaria last month.

Frank Lampard - M - Manchester City

Shocking news from The Mirror who are reporting that NYCFC will loan Frank Lampard to parent club Manchester City.

With the expansion MLS not set to start play until March 2015, there have been questions about what Lampard will do in the meantime. The Mirror are reporting that the Chelsea legend will be loaned to the defending champions. The move brings up all sorts of potential concerns with City's ownership of multiple clubs and how they could all be used strategically to skirt league rules in all countries they operate in.

Kyle Naughton - D - Tottenham Hotspur

Swansea boss Garry Monk has confirmed his interest in Tottenham's Kyle Naughton.

Just to keep the Swansea and Tottenham merry-go-round swinging, we have the possibility of Naughton moving to the Liberty Stadium. With Ben Davies and Danny Rose available at left-back, and with new signing Eric Dier capable of covering for Kyle Walker at right-back, the time may be right for Naughton to consider moving on, with Tottenham unlikely to stand in his way.

Brede Hangeland - D - Crystal Palace

In a very Tony Pulis move, Crystal Palace have moved to fortify their central defense with Brede Hangeland.

The move will add another veteran physical presence to the Palace defense as they look to build on an exceptional second half of last season after Tony Pulis took over. With Hangeland's health in question over the last two seasons he may be better suited to a reserve role but on a spot basis Pulis will hope he can rediscover the form that made him widely sought-after a few seasons ago.

Morgan Amalfitano - M - Transfer Target

QPR have stepped up their efforts to sign Morgan Amalfitano from Marseille.

Amalfitano enjoyed a loan spell with West Bromwich Albion last season and impressed on occasions, but a permanent move failed to materialise. The 29-year-old is reportedly still available for a cut-price fee of £2.5million, and he would be a good value signing for QPR if they can pull it off.

Connor Wickham - F - Sunderland

Sunderland are prepared to offload Connor Wickham if the Great Escape hero doesn’t pen a new deal at the Stadium of Light, admits Gus Poyet.

Wickham's goals saved Sunderland from relegation last season and he has been in discussions over a new deal all summer, but the club and the player have yet to come to an agreement. The 21-year-old forward is entering the final year of his deal meaning he could leave for a reduced fee next summer if he fails to sign a contract extension, so Poyet has claimed Sunderland will need to cash in now rather than lose millions in 12 months. "For me, Connor’s situation is clear," said Poyet."He needs to sign a new contract or we let him go – we sell him. There is nothing in between."

James Milner - M - Manchester City

James Milner is keeping Manchester City waiting over his plans for the future as he enters the final year of his contract.

This follows a story from earlier in the summer which had suggested Milner has become disillusioned under Manuel Pellegrini and was ready to look for a fresh challenge. The brunt of the 28-year-old's frustrations are down to the fact he started just 17 league games during the campaign, and if a similar situation occurs this season then he's leaving himself free to move on when his contract expires next summer.

Loïc Remy - F - Queens Park Rangers

Newcastle United manager Alan Pardew continues to 'monitor' Loic Remy's situation after a move to Liverpool broke down.

We're no clearer as to why Remy's move to Liverpool broke down, with Harry Redknapp denying claims the striker failed a medical, but for now he remains at QPR. That could change if Alan Pardew formally renews interest in a player who scored 14 goals for Newcastle during last season's impressive loan spell. If Remy can prove his fitness then he would be a fine signing for any Premier League club

Danny Rose - D - Tottenham Hotspur

Tottenham left-back Danny Rose has signed a new five-year contract with the club.

Rose was expected to leave the club after Ben Davies' arrival from Swansea last month, but this new contract suggests the two left-backs will compete with each other for a starting spot. Rose, who has reportedly impressed new manager Mauricio Pochettino during pre-season, can also play as a winger.

Michael Dawson - D - Tottenham Hotspur

Tottenham have agreed to sign Sporting Lisbon defender Eric Dier for £4m.

Dier was born in England but moved to Portugal at 10 years of age and has stayed in Lisbon since joining the club's academy as a teenager. The defender has represented England at Under-21 level, can play at center back, right back or defensive midfield and will join Tottenham for a £4million fee subject to completing a medical later today. His arrival could push Michael Dawson closer to the exit door, with a move to Hull remaining a possibility.
