General Rules

1. Competitions are open to students & professional nail technicians of all skill levels and countries.
2. The organizers guarantee a fair treatment to all participants.
3. The Nailympics reserves the right to refuse entry to any competitor.
4. As an international competition participant, the competitor must respect all rules and manner of competition.
5. Universal and commonsensical standards will apply to other manners or rules not specified in the Nailympics rules.
6. When registering the participants will confirm the agreement and familiarity with rules by their signature.
7. The organizers are not responsible for any competitor not adhering to or not understanding every rule.
8. Competitors must specify the division they are entering when registering.
9. Once a competitor has registered, they cannot change divisions.
10. Competitors must enter the division according to their qualification.
11. If it is found the competitors have registered in the wrong division, they will be disqualified.
12. Due to the large attendance of international competitors, the Nailympics is not responsible for verifying that each competitor enters into the correct division.
13. A competitor will be disqualified and banned from all future Nailympics competitions globally if they are caught cheating at the time of any of the competitions.
14. The INJA member can take part in the competition if he/she does not judge the competition that day.
15. There is no smoking, drinking alcohol or eating allowed on the competition floor. Competitors and models are allowed to drink only water.
16. Competitors must provide their own products and tools.
17. All products must be clearly labeled. Hand written labels are acceptable.
18. No mobile phones, tablets or computers of any kind on the competition floor during the competition for both the competitor and the model.
19. No outside communication with competitors while competitions are going on.
20. Competitors and models must be at least 18 years old.
21. Competitors must use a live model and arrange for their own model.
22. Models that have any jewelry and tattoos on the lower arms or anywhere on their hands must adhere to the rule of having them covered by an official prior to judging.
23. Floor judge gives a warning if a model has any jewelry and tattoos on the lower arms at first. In case the measures are not taken the competitor will receive a 10 points deduction to their final score for this infringement of the rule.
24. Only competitors and models are allowed to enter the competition floor. However, translators are allowed to enter the competition floor when the communication with the competitors is necessary and also during the briefing.
25. Competitors not understanding English or the language of the hosting country must provide their own translator.
26. Each competition will have a briefing 15 minutes prior to the start of the competition. All competitors and models must be present for the briefing.
27. Once the briefing of a competition begins, the competitor may not touch the model’s nails until the competition begins. If anyone or any competitor touches the model’s nails after the briefing and before the competition begins, there will be a 5 point deduction from their final score.
28. Models’ nails will be checked by the floor judge during the briefing and nail-check will be done.
29. Translators must read over the rules with the competitor prior to the competition briefing to assure the competitor understands all of the rules.
30. The translator must be present during the competition briefing and stay just outside the competition floor in a designated area during the competition in the event that they are needed for communication with the competitor.
31. Competitors are allowed to prepare the natural nails prior to the competition. But absolutely no application work of any kind until the competition officially begins. There will be a 5 point deduction from their final score.
32. Competitors are allowed to set up table, products and supplies during the competition briefing.
33. Competitors or models may not go into their kits once the competition has started.
34. Competitors may not be on the floor until the floor is opened for set up. If you are in the following competition, you may leave your table set up but clear the floor until the floor judge opens it up for set up.
35. Competitors must bring all necessary electrical supplies, including UV/LED lamp, extension cord, adaptors, and table lamp.
36. Each competitor will be provided with one electrical outlet.
37. A full set of nails (2 hands) must be completed and all of the work must be finished in the time allotted for the competition to earn enough points to qualify for a trophy.
38. Do not use photocopies and images that are copyrighted.
39. The work starts and ends with the gong strike. Once the allotted time is up, competitors must immediately stop working and put their hands open. The model should stand and get in line for judging. Competitors caught touching their model after time is called will receive a 10 point deduction to their final score.
40. Incomplete nails will be judged with point deduction to the final score.
41. Competitors are responsible for getting their model to the judging arena and making certain the model understands they must be judged by all judges before leaving the competition floor.
42. Models must not leave the judging area until they have been completely judged.
43. If a model leaves the judging area prior to being judged there will be point deduction.
44. If the model is judged with the lower division, the competitor will be excluded from the awards ceremony, despite the good results.
45. A 1-10 point judging system will be used. 1 being the lowest – 10 being flawless.
46. Any competitor not abiding by these rules will take whatever point deduction that is allowed in the rules. For any rules not specifying a point deduction, there will be one warning. The second infringement will be penalized by a 5 point deduction and the third infringement will be cause for disqualification of the competition.
47. The head judge’s decision is final.
48. In the event of a tie the head judge will make the decision.
49. In the event of any disputes to the scoring places first through ten the head judge will make the decision.
50. Score sheets will be made available for all competitors.
51. All photos and videos taken by Nailympics personnel or hired contractors are the sole property of the Nailympics to be used in whatever fashion deemed appropriate by the Nailympics without compensation to the competitors and models.
52. There are no refunds of competition fees.
53. In the event that a competition only has 4 competitors, only 1st place trophy will be awarded.
54. The competition must have a minimum of 4 competitors in it. If less than 4 competitors have entered, the competitor may choose to enter into a division in the next higher division or choose to pull out of it and get a refund on the competition fees.
