Even the most jaded fashion critic can't help being a cow-eyed sucker for a glamorous gala and a stunning evening gown, so this week's Style Superstar pick—who has spent the past two days being universally adored by the internet at large for this amazing look—should come as a surprise to no one. The event: the opening night gala at the American Ballet Theater. The evening's premiere fashionista: Crystal Renn, who was all kind of ooh la la in a cascade of red lace.

Whether in her voluptuous days as a plus-size model or in her current, slimmer silhouette, Crystal has never not looked amazing, but this dress? THIS DRESS. The high neck, long sleeves and all-over lace of the Valentino gown are pure Victorian chic, but the shade and sexy A-line cut make it anything but stuffy. It's a great look for the model, who's never shied away from a high-drama getup—and she's also kicked it up a notch with skinny looped braids, bold winged eyeliner and a simple silver clutch. Our only complaint is that we can't tell where the dress ends and the carpet begins, but that's obviously the carpet's fault.

At first, this EXCLUSIVE clip from soon-to-be-released movie "How I Live Now" looks like just another cozy camping scene in the English countryside...even if there is a semi-automatic weapon lying on the floor beside the sleeping children in their ramshackle blanket fort. But don't get too comfortable, y'all: As one of the recently wakened kids peeks out the door in the cold morning light, SHIZZ GOES CRAZY. And crazy it will remain, because this is just a wee taste of the action and excitement in store when this film hits theaters next Friday!

Based on the novel by Meg Rosoff, "How I Live Now" stars Saoirse Ronan as Daisy, a teen who's reluctantly left the U.S. to spend her summer vacation with distant family in a remote English village. But just when she's starting to enjoy her idyllic retreat to the countryside, the getaway goes from dream vacation to bullet-riddled nightmare, as a massive global war suddenly breaks out and turns friendly old England into a very dangerous place for an American girl. With disastrous consequences guaranteed if she's discovered, Daisy is forced to run and hide, and to put her trust in the few people who are willing to keep her safe.

First came the Icons: alien structures whose arrival heralded the end of the world as we know it. Now, comes "Idols": the second book in Margaret Stohl's series. It's the next chapter in the lives of Dol, Ro, Luca and Tima, four teens whose hearts are somehow impervious to the Icons' power. And if you can't wait to see what's in store for the survivors of book No. 1 in the follow-up, then hey, guess what, you don't have to. We've got the EXCLUSIVE cover reveal, plus an excerpt that brings you blazing into the world of "Idols"! And we do mean "blazing," because when we catch up with Dol, she's about to meet a fiery demise in the wreckage of a doomed helicopter.

The good news: They'd never kill off our heroine on the first page of her own trilogy. The bad news: She's clearly in for a rough freakin' time, between being sent on a mission to destroy the Icons and having problematic feelings for two of the dudes she's supposed to be destroying them with. Ugh! Love triangles! Always getting in the way when you're busy trying to save the world, amirite? But Dol's tough, and we think she can handle it...although it'll be July before we know for sure, since this excerpt leaves us high and dry just a couple chapters into the story. (Unless someone wants to go hound Margaret Stohl for deets at YALLFest in Charleston; she's the lady in charge.)

If you've been following the excitement of Marie Lu's "Legend" series, then you know that things are about to get serious leading into the third and final book. And if you're wondering just how serious, let us be the first to tell you: The epic conclusion to this dystopian trilogy is at least as serious as a guy vaulting over two concrete barriers in a row like some kind of spring-loaded monkey. How do we know? 'Cause we've got the exclusive first peek at the book trailer for "Champion"! And now, SO DO YOU.

It hasn't been an easy time for June and Day, the heroes of "Legend." For two books now, they've been in the thick of manipulation, betrayal and desperate attempts to uncover the truth about their war-torn nation and its endless conflicts with surrounding countries. But now, the pair are finally back in the good graces of the Republic: June in an elite government position, and Day in a high-ranking military role. But after so much struggle and so many secrets, don't count on a happy, easy ending just yet. Before a peace can be broached, plague sweeps through the border cities and threatens the start of a brand new war—a war that June knows how to stop, but at a terrible cost. Eeeeep! With a tease like that, it's a good thing that this book hits shelves in just five short days...and it's a good thing we didn't have any plans for next week, because we're gonna be hiding out in a blanket fort with "Champion" til the bitter end.

If your big plans for Halloween involved dressing up as this year's arguably biggest pop-cultural flashpoint, then we're sorry to tell you that Paris Hilton might have stolen your thunder. The hotel heiress has already celebrated her Halloween, and she did it dressed up as Miley Cyrus on the night of her famous performance at the VMAs. (Couples who planned to pay homage to Miley's duet with Robin Thicke, you're safe; Paris opted for the mouse-face leotard, not the flesh-toned latex bikini.)

Meanwhile, those still looking for costume inspiration should definitely take a peek at our pics of Hollywood Halloweenies. Paris wasn't the only celeb who was out trick-or-treating this weekend; Naya Rivera went around the world as a sexy Carmen Sandiego, Fergie and Josh Duhamel opted for a creepy-sexy couples getup, Lea Michele looked every inch a Bavarian princess in a short skirt and tight corset, and Ke$ha took a selfie before finishing off her cozy skeleton costume with a mask.

With Halloween just around the corner, Hollywood's finest are clearly feeling festive: The traditional palette of orange and black has been popping up everywhere on the red carpet this week. But not all Halloweenies are created equal, and while some of these looks are scarily stylish, others are just plain scary. Who earned Style Superstar honors for her autumnal finery? And whose ill-fitting dress gave us a fright? Check it!

It's been awhile since Natalie Portman had a movie to promote, but the Paris premiere for "Thor: The Dark World" made it clear that she hasn't forgotten how to put together a show-stopping red carpet look. This Dior dress with a plunge neckline and embellished tulle overskirt is divine on her, with a silhouette that's a little reminiscent of her "Black Swan" role as a ballerina, and the color scheme is pure fall. Opting for sleek hair and minimal jewelry, Natalie wisely kept the only hint of bling limited to her gold heels—and to the beautiful blossom embellishments on the dress itself, of course. Add in the fact that those kind of look like candy corn, and we've got to give her Style Superstar for this sumptuous seasonal getup.

Here in the secret underground lair of the YA literati, our radar is blowing up all over the place thanks to the latest big news in book deals. What is it? Only a screen-ready series that has Hollywood franchise written all over it—not least because it's been written by a decorated veteran of the YA book-to-film machine!

The book is "Scan," by Pouya Shahbazian (a.k.a. Walter Jury) and co-author Sarah Fine (a.k.a. S.E. Fine), an action sci-fi story that has all the zany contraptions and crazy antics and secret aliens a girl could ever want. And today, we've got the special EXCLUSIVE debut of its bee-yoo-tiful cover, which we are simultaneously salivating over and terrified by, because that thing in the top right-hand corner is super scary and eeeeaaaagh I think it's looking at me.

Confession: When a YA novel is being brought to the big screen, we don't usually get all hot and bothered over who's gonna be the dad, y'know? But then again, most YA novel dads aren't adorable, scruffy, pipe-smoking former punk rockers like the one in "If I Stay"—and they don't get played by fairly crushworthy actors with cute beards like Joshua Leonard. So, yeah, we're a little excited over the announcement from Deadline this morning that Joshua has been tapped to play Denny Hall, father to main character Mia, in the movie adaptation of Gayle Forman's book.

For the uninitiated, "If I Stay" is the story of Mia, who is the only one to survive a car accident that kills both her parents and her brother. Caught in a state of comatose limbo, she's faced with a choice: to return to the land of the living, or to just let go. (Or in other words, it's great that Joshua has joined the cast, but all things considered, we probably won't be seeing much of him.)

If you were one of the "Mortal Instruments" fans who was devastated by the news that production was halting on "City of Ashes" with no concrete plans to start again, now is the time to dry your little eyes and be joyous: According to The Hollywood Reporter, Constantin Films is back on board with plans to move ahead on the sequel! Yaaaay! Clearly, our campaign of standing outside the homes of the studio's major executives and hysterically sobbing whilst clutching a life-sized stuffed Jace Wayland doll has paid off in a big way.

Per the report, Constantin will relaunch production on the second film in the series next year, while using the last few months of 2013 to analyze why and how the first movie didn't do as well as they'd hoped. (Among the problems: Apparently, nobody realized that the "Mortal Instruments" fandom isn't entirely under the age of 18—which, as the adult editors of this blog and their life-sized stuffed Jace can attest, is obviously a Thing.)

It's early days for the People's Choice Awards nomination process—in fact, the announcement that noms are now open has so stirred the passions of the choosy people that, as of this writing, the site is too overloaded to actually function at all—but with so much on the line, it's vital that everyone get clicking to ensure that one of our most favorite young Hollywood gents takes his rightful place atop the ballot.

And by that, we mean that Channing Tatum is up for Favorite Movie Actor, which means the other nine dudes currently in that category (whoever they are, we didn't even bother to look) are inferior little trolls who must be defeated, and probably punished for their insolence, too.
