 More than 130 participants from 15 countries visited The First International Conference "The Black Sea grain - 2004"

The participants included biggest International and Ukrainian grain traders, owners and top management of grain terminals in the Black Sea ports, commodity market analysts from CIS and EU countries, and many others.

 The Conferences are organized by commodity market analyst UkrAgroConsult and held once a year in Kiev, capital of Ukraine, in April.

 The aim of the conference is: 
- To discuss the prospects of Black Sea grain market development under the conditions of competition among other largest world grain producers;
- To give all participants the benefit of receiving the latest outlooks of grain production in this region; 
- To provide grain market operators with an opportunity for informal communication.

 Seminar "The Fat-and-oil sector of Ukraine: policy development strategy" was held in Kyiv

The seminar "The Fat-and-oil sector of Ukraine: policy development strategy" devoted to problems of Ukraine's fat-and-oil industry was held on June 30 - July 1. Deputy Ag Minister G. Omelyanenko, leading producers and processors of Ukraine participated in the seminar's work.

One of the problems discussed concerned sunseed export regulation. In particular, the issue was raised as to the possible reduction of the 17% export duty to zero, caused among other reasons by the demands of the European Commission (the WTO has not made such demands to Ukraine).

However, in the opinion of Ag Minister V. Slauta and Vice Prime Minister I. Kyrylenko, no amendments will be made in the export regulation in the next three years.
