Roundtable: Ukraine In Geopolitical Interests Of Other Countries (13:00, Friday, February 14, 2014)

Ukrainian News Agency

A ROUNDTABLE on the topic "Ukraine in the System of Geopolitical Interests of other Countries" will take place at the PRESS CENTER of the Ukrainian News information agency at 13:00 on Friday, February 14.

Recent events have once again demonstrated major geopolitical players’ lack of desire to recognize Ukraine as a fully-fledged subject of international politics.

The invited participants will discuss the chances of Ukraine establishing its right to defend its interests on the international arena, who is striving to prevent this, and why.

The following issues will be addressed during the roundtable:

  • Ukraine at the intersection of geopolitical interests: is there any chance of independence?
  • What could be Ukraine’s place in the United States-promoted doctrine of a unipolar world?
  • The leaked recording of a conversation between United States Assistant Secretary of State Victoria Nuland and United States Ambassador to Ukraine Geoffrey Pyatt: a provocation or a logical pattern?
  • What are the main geopolitical strategies of the United States, the European Union, and Russia regarding Ukraine?
  • Are Brzezinski’s forecasts current?
  • Which other geopolitical giant, apart from the traditional players, is playing the Ukrainian "big game"?

    Roundtable discussion participants:

  • Vadym Brailovskyi, member of the Ukraine-China intergovernmental business council, director-general at the investment and banking company European Capital Management;
  • Vladyslav Starynets, economist;
  • Yevhen Mahda, political expert, journalist, candidate of political sciences;
  • Oleksandr Okhrimenko, President of the Ukrainian Think-Tank;
  • Yurii Kochevenko, political expert.
