Mission of OHP CKiW: “The believe that a person can be reborn to a true and dignified life at every stage of their existens” (Thomas Merton).
The main objective is to implement the integrated development of all spheres of students personality, allowing comprehensively meet the needs of adolescents. One of the necessary evidence to support a holistic approach to the development of the young man is working closely with home, school, local community, supporting institutions.
Center trains and educates young people with learning difficulties, young people with reduced life chances, at risk of social maladjustment offering courses of study to the needs of the local labor market. Center contains of Zespol Szkol Gimnazjalnych w Olesnicy (Complex of Secondary Schools in OleAnica) and Gimnazjum Nr 1.
In the Basic Vocational School youth can prepare to profession called: chef, and in Gimazjum: chef, bricklayer, gardener, and hairdresser.
Olesnica is a historical capital of the duchy, and nowadaysis the county seat. It lies on the Plain Olesnicka and has almost 39,000 inhabitants.
Monumental landmark of Olesnica is Renaissance Castle with Mannierst additions and Baroque interior. CKW OHP is located in the Castle in the very center of Olesnica. To meet the students needs CKW OHP introduced innovative care and educational activities of adapting the work of education to their interests and expectations. It focuses particularly on the forms and methods that have a large impact and the young people offering a variety of values, which have a positive impact on youth. The goal of this strategy is development of regional tourism, and national tourism in conjunction with implementation of educational pathways (historical, literary organic, natural , cultural and art) resulting from the curriculum in the school. For example: knowing rules related to the participation of tourist events such as cultural preservation on the trail, proper behavior at youth hostels, a sense of mutual responsibility, cooperation and assistance during rallies and outdoor events (camps, rallies). In order to support the educational process a large emphasis is putted on preventive actions as one of several ways of addressing the social phenomena that are rated as dangerous and undesirable. Since effective prophylaxis is the optimal way to inhibit the growth or reducing the scale of phenomena considered socially dissuasive undertake a series of remedial actions. OHP’s students have educational problems and difficult background (family problems, addictions, social and eduacation, etc.) they have from 15 to 19 years. They came from entire Poland (around 120 person spend 24/h time on castle and more than 70 coming every day to lesson and work practis). Total number of the students in center - 190 students. Volunteer’s task will focuse on colaboration with teachers and educators, who are working in boarding school (over 120 persons) and are available 24h in the castle. Among the teachers there are language teacher, educators, pshychologists, who will be the natural work eniviroment for volunteers.
Volunteer will help school educators to organize free time for students. For this group of students volunteers will organize different kind of activities: culture events, artistic workshops, outdoor or indoor sport activities, language classes, EVS promotion or UE knowledge: presentation about countries and foreign language conversations, activities talking about UE (values, problems), EVS promotion in Olesnica’s schools, local newspapers and internet. Computer classes, and actualization of website, writing a blog. The choice activities volunteer will perform will be left to their interests. Volunteer also will participate in activities organize by tutors. All of volunteer’s activities will take place in special rooms designed for volunteers and for their only use. Volunteer coming for long-term project could live in rented rooms in Olesnica or in castle. Volunteers will help by preparing materials for activities and running the activities. Due to challenging target group, volunteer will choose freely the activities she/he would like to assist or perform. Volunteer will never stay alone with the group.

Short term project
Number of volunteers hosted in the same time: 6
Main part of activities will be connected with environment: - conservation work in the castle, work in the park, common workshops (connected with profession taught in CKW OHP - chef, bricklayer, gardener, hairdresser, car mechanic), sharing method and technics used in mentioned professions, exchange of good practices; culture and artistic workshops, in the Castle for and with students for local community. They can learn practical skills in “learning by doing” way in mixed group with local students. Volunteers coming on short-term project will live in the castle.
Center can host 4 volunteers for long term, and 6 for short term projects.
