Consumer confidence in Ukraine, September 2013: decline by 7.2 p. down to 80.6

October 24, 2013 - Beginning of autumn 2013 was marked not only by the unusual rainy weather, but also with a rapid decline in consumer confidence of Ukrainians. September index of consumer confidence (CCI) is 80.6 which is 7.2 points lower than in August. This is the lowest index level in the last one and a half years. The largest drop was observed for the propensity to consume and the current personal financial standing. At the same time, expectations of devaluation and unemployment increased. It is proved by the data on Ukrainians’ consumer confidence survey conducted by GfK Ukraine on monthly basis. more >>

Ukrainians exposed to new threats of human trafficking

October 18, 2013 - Ukrainians are increasingly at risk of becoming exposed to human trafficking threats, the International Organization for Migration (IOM) reports on the European Anti-Slavery Day. According to a recent survey, commissioned by IOM and conducted by GfK Ukraine in September this year*, 9 per cent of Ukrainians claim that they, their relatives or friends were facing situations or attempts of trafficking in human beings. Two years ago, when a previous survey was conducted with the same methodology, 7 per cent claimed encountering such situations. more >>

The state of road surface, littered pavements, and parking in pedestrian areas are the main problems of the streets of Ukrainian cities

September 23, 2013 - Residents of the biggest Ukrainian cities consider the state of road surface, mud and litter on streets, as well as illegal parking on pavements and grass strips to be the major problems of the streets of their cities. The most pressing problem for residents of Dnipropetrovsk and Donetsk are homeless cats and dogs, while inhabitants of Kyiv and Odesa are more concerned about the amount of urban landscaping, parks and recreational green zones. More than a half of the respondents consider the state of road surface to be the most crucial and urgent problem of Ukrainian cities. Consumer confidence in Ukraine, August 2013: decrease by 1.3 p. to 87.7

September 17, 2013 - The July rapid growth of consumer confidence was followed by a slight decrease in September. The Consumer Confidence Index (CCI) is 87.7, which is 1.3 p. lower than in July. The August drop in consumer confidence was caused mainly by weaker economic expectations over the next year in the first place. It is proved by the data of the consumer confidence survey in Ukraine, which is conducted by GfK Ukraine on a monthly basis. more >>

Last year, a greater number of smartphones than standard mobile phones were sold in the Christmas trading period for the first time. This positive trend is attributable to smartphone prices being increasingly attractive. A range of new premium features are also stimulating sales for devices in the mid and top price ranges.
