THE HISTORY
?June 2006 - Fuel Alternative in partnership with the French Oil Institute (IFP) organized the 1 st International Conference on "Alternative Fuels" in Ukraine. ?For the first time the attention of Ukrainian business was drawn to a segment of alternative fuels and energy.
June 2009 - steamer “Riverest” with participants of the 4 th Annual Conference "Alternative Fuels 2009" (Organizer: Fuel Alternative) on board made the first in the history of Eastern Europe swim using biofuel. ?A few days after this important event President Yushchenko signed a law promoting the development of biofuels. Inspired by this, Fuel Alternative decided to create a quality business platform for the participants of the segment of energy from wind, sun and water.
October 2009 - "Ukrainian House" on the Central (European) square of Kiev turned into a business incubator of renewable energy for two days. Lighting of the conference room of the event was made in part by using solar panels and small wind turbines. So the first Ukrainian Renewable Energy Forum was held, which brought together over 230 delegates, including senior managers and company owners, managers of government agencies and international organizations.
October 2010 - 2nd Ukrainian Renewable Energy Forum was held again at the Congress Center "Ukrainian House", although it is now out of a series of events, meetings and conferences that were held in five halls of the "Ukrainian House". The branched forum program allowed participants to make their own individual schedule of participation in business activities, choosing from a set of features most desired for themselves. 65% of the speakers and 45% of the forum delegates were representatives of foreign companies. The forum brought together a record quantity of companies for the Ukrainian branch of the renewable energy, representatives of the investment and financial sectors using REF-UA in order to begin work in the alternative energy sector of Ukraine.
Among the Forum’s speakers in 2010 are the President of the World Wind Energy Association Dr Anil Kane, the Director of the European Association of Small Hydropower Marco Gospodzhinacki, the project managers of the German Federal Association of the solar industry BSW-Solar, and the Spanish Association of Renewable Energy AVAESEN etc. ?On the eve of the Forum, the National Energy Regulatory Commission issued the first in the history of Ukraine the "green tariff" as the first in the country of the solar power plant and the Ukrainian capital began to construct the first boiler-fuel (pellets).
October 2011 - There were approximately 300 participants from 28 countries at the Forum. Working program of REF-2011 consisted of 60 reports of the best industry experts in the sphere of solar and wind energy industry, small hydropower, energy efficiency and also investments and legislation.
REF-2011 practically has become the first sector event, where the work of the Ukrainian renewable energy industry was summarized, which started to form from September, 2010, after the implementation into exploitation of the first line of solar power stations of the company Activ Solar in Crimea. From that moment, new projects in the wind energy, small hydropower and also power plants based on biomass, have been built. Besides that, new projects on transition from natural gas to alternative types of fuel at the objects of heat generation are being actively implemented.
Among the partners of the REF-2011 conference were: ABB, REC Solar, Asov Oil Company, Activ Solar, KPMG, Beiten Burkhardt, Prenecon, Kvazar, Legal group «Dominion» and also NUSEP.
October 2012 - This year the Forum was held on October 16-17 in Kyiv, Hyatt Hotel. Participation in the Renewable Energy and Energy Efficiency Forum has already established a strong position in the plans of players who are interested in developing and promoting their business. During the year we had been preparing a business platform REF-2012, to give forum participants the maximum that is possible over two days - the quality information and communication, and to ask another impetus to the development of renewable energy in Ukraine.
October 2013 - 5th Forum REF-2013 Kyiv is going to be even more interesting gathering more than 300 market players. REF-2013 Kyiv will use the latest and newest International standards of the conference' organizing.
