Odessa national polytechnic university’s scientific library was founded in 1918 at the same time that the institute namely. In the first years its resource consisted of books offered by the citizens and lecturers. Nowadays the library' resource numbers 1,35 mln volumes. Thematically areas are numerous: engineering, machine-building, thermal technique, hydraulics, electrical engineering, radioengineering, microelectronics, metal processing, transport, production organization, chemical industry, metallurgy, computing technologies, economics, human, social and political sciences. Edition languages are different: at the same time that mainly funds languages are Ukrainian and Russian, 15,7 thousand of copies are in English, German, French and other languages. The library search machine consists of physical catalogues and card indexes system, the electronic catalogue, electronic library, specialized stock of reference-bibliographic editions. Every year the library services 35 thousand readers. The read volume number averages nearly 840 thousand copies, the number of library visitors more than 420 thousand a year. At readers' service there are 5 subscriptions: for lecturers, scientists and employees of the university; for day-time students; for extramural students; fiction; philological literature and interlibrary loan. Five reading halls are working: for lecturers, research assistants; reference editions; technical and natural science literature; human, social and political science literature; philological literature room. Also, in the student’s hotel №4 there works a reading hall. Concurrently 550 readers can work in reading halls. The exhibitions of new receivabless are conducted in a reading-room for teachers and research workers (to. 202) on Monday and Tuesday of the last week of month. The library works every day from 9.00 till 17.00. On Saturdays the reading halls are open from 10.00 to 15.00. The library’s day-off in Sunday.
