The number of fibre subscribers in Europe, including Russia, increased 24% in the first six months of 2011, according to the latest figures from the FTTH Council Europe, which were unveiled at the Broadband World Forum in Paris. Much of that growth occurred in CIS, Baltic States and Eastern European countries, including Hungary and Ukraine, which are the latest nations to join the official European FTTH Ranking.
