«ENERGY EFFICIENCY 2009»

The problems of energy efficiency and energy and resource saving have always been important. The situation in the market has become especially difficult during the last several years. That is why, the National Agency of Ukraine for the effective use of energy resources (NAER) and Specialized exhibition center «EXPODONBASS» took a decision to organize and hold all-Ukrainian specialized trade fair «Energy Efficiency 2009».

This event is important for both the industry and the housing and communal service organizations of the country. The topics of the trade fair reflect a wide circle of problems and their solutions, including the reduction of energy consumption costs by using alternative thermal and electrical energy sources.

The main aim of the trade fair is to present advanced equipment and technologies, to stimulate the development of sound methods of work and sound competitiveness, to support the stable business development and, of course, to promote various methods of the reduction of thermal and electrical energy consumption costs.

At the trade fair, the scientists and manufacturers presented modern equipment of the energy saving sector: heat pumps, solar batteries and units, wind power stations, completely autonomous houses, which need neither central heating nor electricity supply networks nor metropolitan-area sewerage systems. The production of biogas and bio fuel, the regeneration of materials and energy, the use of agricultural waste products to produce fuel — all these topics were also presented at the fair.

Around 300 participants from practically all Ukrainian regions and from Italy, Germany, Finland, Poland, Czech Republic, Great Britain, Sweden and Japan took part in the exhibition.

This participant structure allowed the visitors not only to follow the tendencies in the development of Ukraine, but also to conclude serious contracts, which will undoubtedly have a positive impact on the energy saving sector in Ukraine as a whole and on each of the Ukrainian regions in particular. In the framework of the business program, the agreement between the Ukrainian government and the NEFCO Corporation (Finland), which deals with subsidizing and financing of energy saving projects, was signed. The agreement proved the status of this corporation in Ukraine and opened new opportunities in the realization of energy efficiency projects in Ukraine. NEFCO has already given 19 million euros to 29 projects in Ukraine; the whole cost of these projects is 55 million euros.

At the same time with the trade fair, there was the International Investment Summit, where the following sessions were held:

• Energy efficiency: investment into the future
• Project financing in the energy efficiency sector
• Energy efficiency in the industry sector
• Energy efficiency in the agricultural sector
• Energy efficiency in the housing and communal service sector

International scientific and practical conference «Production and usage of methane: investment formation» broadly covered the possibilities of using methane from the coal-fields of Ukraine. The organizers of the conference were NAER and concern NADRA (Kyiv, Ukraine). A number of companies held their presentations and seminars. For example, «Fitofuels Investments» (Poltava, Ukraine) presented their products and technologies, and «SEA Electronics» (Kyiv, Ukraine) and «Odis-W» (Odessa, Ukraine) held seminar «Energy saving, monitoring and management in outdoor lighting sector».

During the trade fair and summit, more than 7000 visitors were registered, the overwhelming majority of whom were specialists and top managers. The visitors came to the fair not only from Ukraine, but also from the other countries.

It should be noted that in spite of the difficult situation in the country, the problem of cost reduction became so important that the interest in finding their solutions will continue to grow. By using the opportunities that trade fair «Energy Efficiency» gives, you cannot only get and apply newest technologies and equipment, but present your own opportunities in a very worthy way.
