Experts predict 33% rise in sugar production

KYIV, October 19 /UKRINFORM/. Sugar production in the 2010/11 marketing year (September-August) in Ukraine may be 33% higher than last year's figures. This opinion was expressed by analysts with Sokrat Investment Group.

According to the National Association of Sugar Producers "UkrSugar", as of October 18 sugar mills produced 0.71 million tons of sugar (+45%); since the beginning of the season 70 sugar mills (last year - 51 mills) have received 8.1 million tons of sugar beets (+63%) processing 6.3 million tons (about 77%).

Given that in 2010 sugar beet was sown throughout 503,000 hectares with the average yield capacity of 30 ton/ha, sugar beet production could reach 15 million tons in 2010/11 MY to produce 1.7 million tons of sugar (+33%), the analysts say.
