Based in Cumbernauld, Scotland, Oki (UK) Limited is involved in the configuration of all types of OKI Printing Solutions printers and faxes and the manufacture of toner and ribbons. Oki (UK) Limited has achieved an outstanding reputation for quality and performance within the electronic industry.

OKI Printing Solutions Cumbernauld was founded in 1987 to support sales within EMEA. The facility originally focussed on manufacturing but over the years, its role has evolved to incorporate a variety of services. In November 2005, a new purpose-built Cumbernauld facility was formally opened by Scotland's First Minister.

The new 200,000 sq foot site houses a range of functions, including manufacturing, supply chain management and European support services, with its focus firmly on customer satisfaction and support.

The facility combines the best of Japanese and British practices to meet its mission statement objective: "To achieve the highest levels of customer satisfaction by focusing on market needs through continuous improvement of our people, products and processes."

At the centre of the OKI Printing Solutions business is its employees. The Cumbernauld facility employs over 500 people.

All site managers work hard to ensure employees are equipped with the necessary skills and knowledge to deliver the high standard of service that the company is renowned for.

The facility was recently accredited with the Investors in People standard, for its commitment to employee development and engagement over 15 years.

Environmental concerns

To meet the objectives outlined in its mission statement, it was important that the new Cumbernauld facility implemented as many environmental measures as possible.

The new facility incorporates temperature regulating systems that utilise natural heating and lighting sources.

Innovative sensors monitor light and heating levels and automatically adjust light and tempreture when required, reducing electricity usage by 34 per cent and gas by 40 per cent compared to the previous premises.

The site has also introduced a waste segregation policy, reducing the amount of landfill waste by an impressive 70 per cent.

Philanthropic activities

As part of its commitment to a brighter future for tomorrow's generations, OKI Printing Solutions donates substantial sums each year to its global charity - Save the Children.

OKI Printing Solutions has pledged to support this international charity by donating a set amount per tonne of consumables recycled, as part of its collection and recycling scheme. This will equate to thousands of euros each year and means the recycling efforts are set to benefit future generations.
