Company history

Zeppelin Baumaschinen GmbH started its operations in Ukraine in 1996 with the opening of the first Ukrainian office in Kyiv to provide machinery produced by Caterpillar, a world known machinery brand.

In 1998 Zeppelin Ukraine started working as an independent structure, that provides Ukrainian customers with a high quality construction machinery manufactured by Caterpillar, which has been acknowledged throughout the world and, by that time, in Ukraine as well.

1998-2003 – the period of a sustainable development for Zeppelin Ukraine. Due to the inefficient private business in Ukraine at that time, government institutions and enterprises were among the key current and perspective customers of Zeppelin Ukraine.

In 1998 Zeppelin Ukraine expanded its business and launched new business directions – Power Systems sales as well as Ship Engines sales.

In 2002 a new business direction, Agricultural Machinery sales, was launched. Zeppelin Ukraine started to supply a well-known world brands equipment, in particular Caterpillar, Challenger, Bourgault, Gregoire Besson, CLAAS.

In 2003 Frank Janas was appointed to the position of Zeppelin Ukraine General Director, and was the head till 2009. In 2010 Holger Schulz was appointed to the position of General Director.

In 2006-2008 Zeppelin Ukraine was actively developing Mining Machinery sales direction. Bucyrus brand was added to the Company’s portfolio.

In 2008 the Company started to supply JLG construction machinery. Today JLG is one of the key construction machinery brands, which is well known in the world. Currently there is a period of a rampant development for quarry industry in Ukraine, and Zeppelin Ukraine provides all necessary equipment by Bucyrus and Metso brands for the industry.

A vigorous growth of the company happened in 2006-2008. At that time Zeppelin Ukraine considerably increased machinery sales volume and broadened its filiations’ as well as service centers’ network throughout Ukraine. The Company’s turnover amounted to USD 200 million in 2008. The company is developing its business within 5 key directions and supplies high quality machinery for:

• Construction industry;
• Mining and quarry industry;
• Agricultural industry;
• Power Systems market, including marine engines and generator sets;
• Spare parts market.

Zeppelin Ukraine takes care of its employees’ professional level. In 2007 the Company opened its own Training Center, where Zeppelin Ukraine specialists and service centers’ employees get trainings annually.
