²² training stage for specialists who work with vulnerable families with young children

7-11 September 2009 within project frames „Transformation of social and medical services for prevention of young children’s abandonment” was held the 2nd training stage for specialists who work with vulnerable families with young children. The following themes were considered:

  1. Forms of work with families after defining the type of a family.
  2. Visit to a family.
  3. Planning work with families at risk and coordinating the goals.
  4. Linguistic techniques of intervention.
  5. Supervision: basic, types. Case supervision.

23 specialists participated in the training.

All training participants highly appreciated the content of the training.

Specialists remarked that many new things will be useful for their work:
„Now I have conviction to use various approaches to different families”;
„Techniques of counseling, assessment of families and their functions, etc were useful”;
„I got understanding of importance of systematic work”;
„I understand that the needs and possibilities of a family should be taken into account. The work with families should be planned based on their possibilities and implemented step by step in cooperation with the family”;
„My attitude to beneficiaries changed. I like the part about peculiarities of visits to families”;
„I got not only new theoretic knowledge but had a chance to practice new skills”;
„My understanding of the first visit to a family changed as well as understanding of future work with the family”.

60 % of information provided at the training was new to participants.

All participants stated that they needed extra knowledge concerning work with families who are (according to Ukrainian legisltation) in difficult life circumstances. Training participants expressed their desire to participate in future trainings on the matter.
