Vacancy of the "Law and Health Initiative" (LAHI) Coordinator
The International Renaissance Foundation is seeking to recruit a highly committed and experienced individual for the position of the "Law and Health Initiative" (LAHI) Coordinator, who will coordinate IRF's "Law and Health Initiative". The Initiative is a part of the Public Health Program and provides support and liase with several other Public Health Program Initiatives, such as International Harm Reduction Program, Palliative Care, Monitoring and Advocacy.
LAHI -IRF coordinator is a joint position between IRF and Open Society Institute (OSI), New York. Therefore, LAHI-IRF coordinator will be a part of two teams: Public Health Program, IRF and a regionally-based team of LAHI coordinators, responsible for implementing the LAHI Global Strategy.
Successful candidates should have:
- Preferably a Masters Degree in Law; candidates with Public Health or similar relevant academic degrees are also welcome
- 5+ years of professional experience in the field of human rights
- Experience in public health and/or social work would be an asset
- Working experience in international organizations or with the international human rights system would be an asset
- Experience in project and grant management including monitoring and evaluation, as well as strategic planning
- Team working skills
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills in Ukrainian and English, high standard of written and verbal business correspondence
- Diplomatic skills and ability to be equally comfortable and effective with marginalized groups and senior government officials
- Strong PC skills
- Tolerant unprejudiced attitude to representatives of vulnerable groups and demonstrated commitment to human rights approaches to health
LAHI-IRF coordinator’s main responsibilities will include:
- Coordinating health and human rights activities within the IRF Public Health Program
- Developing strategies, workplans and budgets for the initiative
- Establishing and developing relations with key local and international partners
- Managing provision of technical and financial support to the "Law and Health Initiative" grantees and other partners, as well as monitoring project implementation
- Developing and maintaining relationships with appropriate government officials, key donors and other stakeholders
- Promotion of public health policies based on social inclusion, human rights, and justice
- Facilitate access to health information, and to foster greater civil society engagement in public health policy and practice
