OXFORD COLLEGES HOSPITALITY SCHEME, CAMBRIDGE COLLEGES HOSPITALITY SCHEME, April 2007 - March 2008
Oxford and Cambridge universities, in conjunction with the Open Society Institute, invite applications from scholars from Central and Eastern Europe and the former Soviet Union who wish to work in the universities' libraries or to contact academic specialists in their subjects. At Cambridge the programme offers one-month visits in one of the Cambridge colleges during the summer months (July-September). At Oxford the programme offers one-month visits in one of the Oxford colleges, mostly during the summer months. Scholars will normally be of post-doctoral or equivalent status and will be university teachers or members of research institutes.

The Central European University Center for Policy Studies (CPS) is calling for proposals for its year 2003 International Policy Fellowships (IPF) program.
The CPS International Policy Fellowships are intended to support the analytical policy research of open society leaders and to provide these Fellows with professional policy training. The program aims to improve the quality of analysis in countries where the Soros foundations work by ensuring that these leaders are able to conduct research in their home region.
The product of each fellowship will be a detailed analysis of a major issue in priority subject areas to be published in English and translated into other languages.

СEU CRC has announced its Spring 2006 sessions.
CEU Curriculum Research Center is the Central European University's outreach program for Social Science teaching. Each session offers an intensive week-long period for syllabi review, library work and meetings with CEU professors, department/program heads and also offers the opportunity of attending CEU teaching sessions in the relevant discipline.

CEU Summer University (SUN)
is an academic program at the Central European University for university teachers, administrators and professionals. It offers a series of intensive two-, three- or four-week courses in the Social Sciences and Humanities to encourage and promote regional academic cooperation and research development. 
The program encourages applications from advanced Ph.D. students, postdoctoral fellows, junior faculty, researchers and professionals.

CEU Senior and Junior Fellowships
This is a Research Fellowship at CEU lasting from one to six months. The programme is designed to increase exchange between scholars and also to promote original research, which can be of practical benefit to a particular country or region.

Course Development Competition 2006-2007
CRC/CEU, funded by the Higher Education Support Program of Open Society Institute, announces a call for proposals to develop new, innovative and relevant university courses in social sciences and humanities. The competition is open to individuals and groups for 10 month grants.

The Network Scholarship Programs (NSP) is pleased to offer the 2004 Alumni Grant Program. It offers grants to NSP alumni to further expand the knowledge gained during their fellowship and make a positive contribution to their home country.
All proposals must be related to the Open Society Institute's mission of supporting educational, social, political and legal reform, and of encouraging alternative approaches to complex and controversial issues. Collaborative projects between alumni, across countries, with host universities are welcome.

Stanford Summer Fellows on Democracy and Development August 1-19, 2005
The Center on Democracy, Development, and the Rule of Law (CDDRL) at the Stanford Institute for International Studies, Stanford University, California invites policy makers and activists from countries undergoing political, economic and social transitions to participate in its first annual summer fellows program on democracy, development, and the rule of law to be held from August 1-19, 2005 at Stanford University on its northern California campus.
The curriculum will draw on the combined expertise of CDDRL staff and Stanford scholars and practitioners in the fields of sociology, business, economics, political science, and law and will emphasize the links between theory and practice. Successful applicants will be proficient in spoken and written English, have at least three to five years of experience in a relevant field of democratic development.

CALL FOR RETURNING SCHOLARS TO TEACH IN EASTERN EUROPE, EURASIA, AND MONGOLIA
The International Higher Education Support Program (HESP) of the Open Society Institute is pleased to announce the 2005-06 Returning Scholar Fellowship Program.
RSFP invites applications for 2005-06 from academics having graduated (or expecting to graduate by September 2005) from a Western-accredited or HESP-supported university with a postgraduate degree in social sciences/humanities who, after studying abroad, seek university positions and academic careers in their home countries.
Returning Scholar Fellowships are awarded in the social sciences (including area studies, anthropology, gender studies, economics, history, political science, psychology, public administration, sociology, law and journalism/media studies).
Application deadline is March 15, 2005.
Fellowships begin in September 2005.

Petro Jacyk Visiting Scholars Program.
The Centre for Russian and East European Studies (CREES) invites applications from scholars in Ukraine (and Ukrainianists outside of Canada) for appointments as a Petro Jacyk Visiting Scholar at the University of Toronto. The prospective candidates spend four to six weeks in Toronto conducting research and interacting with Canadian scholars. They are expected to present a seminar on their work and to take part in relevant scholarly events.

The Lane Kirkland Scholarships in the 2005-2006 academic year.
The purpose of the Lane Kirkland Scholarship Program is to disseminate and transfer Polish experiences in the field of economic and political transformations, to neighboring countries of Central and Eastern Europe, within the framework of a two-semester supplementary study program in Polish schools of higher education, as well as, 2-4 week professional internships in state and private institutions.

American Council of Learned Societies
(ACLS)announces call for applications for its short-term research grants program in humanities for citizens of Belorus, Russia and Ukraine for the 2003-2004 academic year.
Research projects are welcomed in all disciplines and topics of humanities: History, Linguistics, Literature, Philosophy, Ethnic and Cultural Studies, Religious Studies, Visual and Performing Arts, Gender Studies, etc. Projects in social sciences (such as Political Sciences, Sociology, Economics, and International Relations)will not be taken into consideration with the exception of topics related to history or culture.

The Reagan-Fascell Democracy Fellows Program at the National Endowment for Democracy (NED) is calling for fellowship applications for 2004-05. Established in 2001 to enable democracy activists, practitioners, scholars, and journalists from around the world to deepen their understanding of democracy and enhance their ability to promote democratic change, the fellowship program is based at the International Forum for Democratic Studies in Washington, D.C.
The program is intended primarily to support practitioners and scholars from new and aspiring democracies.
A working knowledge of English is an important prerequisite for participation in the program.

The Social Science Research Council (SSRC) Eurasia Program 2005 Predoctoral and Postdoctoral Fellowships Competition
