English Club

As many other social projects, English Speaking Club was started due to personal necessity. In spring 2009 several young people started discussion in the city Internet-forum www.gorod.dp.ua/forum of the ways to practice their English. This resulted in the idea to create a club where they would be able to speak in English with each other. It was the moment our English Speaking Club was created.

Our Club is a unique endeavor as it is not a commercial project, and is not aimed to gain any kind of profit. The Club has been created solely to offer its participants an opportunity to practice their English speaking skills. We created the Club for ourselves, and this is why we are interested in its successful development and active operation.

The motto of our club is "Only two kinds of people do not join the Club: those who do not need English yet and those who do not need it already".  We are living in a hectic and dynamic world with its globalization and blurred geographic and cultural boundaries, and we need English in various fields, from tourism to studying and working abroad. Moreover, the better you speak English, the easier it is for you to succeed.

The Club strives to let you develop your spoken skills as well as meet interesting people from Ukraine and abroad. The Club responses to the needs of its participants taking into account their requests and wishes. Activities at the Club include:

• Discussions,
• Language Games,
• Listening to English songs,
• Watching and discussing movies,
• Learning about culture of English speaking countries,
• Celebrating holidays, etc.   

We do not teach English (although we work on vocabulary expansion and grammar), but we provide our participants with an opportunity to retain, improve and actively use their English. This is why the Club meetings will be most beneficial for those who already have some command of English and want to develop it further on.

The Club operates on the voluntary basis and is actively supported by Osvita EIAC and Dnepropetrovsk City Central Library. All services and events of the Club are provided free of charge. However, the participants should register in advance for being involved in the Club activities.
