Terms of GPRS-Roaming

GPRS-roaming is provided to all Contract MTS subscribers upon condition of activation the international roaming service. For further details call to MTS Call Center +380442400000 or 111 (from mobile phone is free).

How to use GPRS-roaming?

Before trip you should check up the GPRS-roaming presence in chosen country as GPRS-roaming is provided not by all MTS roaming partners. You don't have to change GPRS settings of your mobile phone or settings of other equipment.

Before trip abroad make a check up:
  • activated international roaming service;
  • activated relevant GRPS-service (MMS GPRS, Ìîbile GPRS-Internet, WAP GPRS);
  • positive balance account;
  • mobile phone with the support of a relevant GPRS-service;
  • that mobile phone works in the same frequency coverage, as a guest network;
  • guest network provides GPRS-service.

For viewing of countries and operators in which GPRS-roaming is available, go to Roaming-Atlas page.

3G-Roaming

Thanks to the contracts conclusion with operators working in 3G standard, MTS Contract subscribers can use GPRS service on higher speeds and that’s why they can get better services. As a rule 3G networks  are implied as the networks in UMTS (W-CDMA) standard.

However among MTS-Ukraine roaming partners there are operators who provide 3rd generation services in the standards which are vary from UMTS.

Important: the subscriber's end device (phone, modem, PC card, etc.) should support the standards of guest networks. To check in what standards operators work in chosen country go to Roaming-Atlas page.

Speed of data transmission in 3G roaming-partner network can reach  384 Kbit/señ, and with HSDPA technology application on roaming-partner network it is possible to expect data transmission of speed to 3.6 Mbit/sec. In practice it means that MTS subscribers in 3G roaming-partner networks:
  • get the high-speed mobile access to Internet;
  • can download full MP3-tracks, videoclips, books, Java-games from MTS WAP-portal and other WEB/WAP-sites much faster, than through GPRS/EDGE in the international roaming.

How to use 3G-Roaming? You will need:

  • mobile phone or modem which support UMTS (HSDPA) (some manufacturers specify in documentation of the equipment not UMTS but W-CDMA);
  • activated international roaming service;
  • activated service of package data transmission – GPRS (Internet, WAP, MMS, Blackberry);
  • staying in network coverage of 3G roaming partner. If you are in the area of 3G network coverage as a rule the special icon lights up on the phone display;
  • 3G phone/modem should be customized on possibility of using both networks 2G (GSM)/3G (UMTS/W-CDMA) (according to the device/modem instructions after changing the options in the mobile phone menu);
  • mobile phone or other device works in the same frequency coverage as a guest network;
  • guest network provides GPRS roaming and 3rd generation services.

For viewing of roaming operators in which network GPRS and 3G Roaming services are accessible, click here.

After registration in foreign operators the networks tariffs of the international roaming are valid. Cost of high-speed Internet access is similar to cost of GPRS service in roaming, tariffing interval on 100 Kb and 1 Kb in case of Blackberry usage.

Attention! Quality of data transmission speed in 3G Roaming depends on quality of 3G Roaming-partner network.
