Ambassador's Fund for Cultural Preservation

Democracy Grants Program
The Democracy Small Grants Program enables the Embassy community in Kyiv to support unique and sustainable pilot projects fostering democratic reforms in a given field or geographic region. Over 200 projects from Ukrainian NGOs have received funding through the Democracy Grants Program since July 1996.

Media Development Fund
The fund is intended to support the development of free and independent media in Ukraine and will provide a wide range of support to Ukrainian journalists, media organizations and other non-governmental groups. It is designed to address a number of pressing concerns in Ukraine's current media environment: Improving the legal, administrative and tax environment for Ukrainian media.
Expanding the use of the Internet as a news and information tool.
Improving professional standards among journalists.
Increasing direct grant support for Ukrainian media and non-governmental organizations.

Internet for Libraries (LEAP)
In the last two years, 55 Internet centers have been opened in public libraries throughout Ukraine as part of the Library Electronic Access Project (LEAP) of the Public Affairs Section of the U.S. Embassy. The goal of the program is to provide public libraries with free public access to the Internet and to support the free and open exchange of information that is essential for Ukraine's integration with the world community.

Window on America
The Public Affairs Section of the U.S. Embassy in Kyiv supports a network of public access resource centers throughout Ukraine. This network includes the Information Resource Center (IRC) and American Library in Kyiv and 11 "Window on America" Centers in regional cities throughout Ukraine. Each Window on America Center is a partnership between the United States Government and a Ukrainian regional public library.
