Bicycle tourism
 The bicycle tourism has its advantages in comparison with other kinds of tourism. Especially in the Carpathians the bicycle is a very convenient vehicle. For traveler it gives the possibility to overcome big distances with rather high speed, to get acquainted with the region during a short journey, to visit places of interest situated on the considerable distance from each other.
Bicycle trip is a very exciting type of active rest which gives unexpected and sometimes original, exclusive expressions.
The main part of the more difficult trip is conducted in the mountain areas of the Carpathians that demands from the cyclist of good physical preparation, skills in local orientation and overcoming of nature barriers. The difficult sections of earth, field and forest roads and paths, steep mountain roads, passes, long slopes, wades and other nature barriers are typical for routes in the Carpathians.
At present in the Carpathian region there are two bicycle routes.
101 Lviv - Zhovkva (70 km) is a route of local importance in the Lviv region. The way comes through Briukhovychi, Yasnyska, Stradch, Ivano Frankove, Dubrovytsia, Krekhiv, Hlynske. Its code in the List of tourist routes - 20101.
11 "By resorts and recreational zones" is a route of regional importance in the territory of Lviv, Transcarpathian, Ivano-Frankivsk, Chernivtsi regions. The length is about 500 km. The way comes through Truskavets, Skhidnytsia, Urych, Skole, Slavske (this part is marked) and then through Volovets to Svaliava, Mizhhiria, Tiachiv, Rakhiv, Tatariv,Vyzhnytsia, Kitsman. The code of the route is 20011.
The works on marking of the regional bicycle route 12 "By places of Ivan Franko" (the previous name) have been started. The way will come from Lviv through Ivano Frankove, Sambir, Nahuevychi, Drohovych, Stryi, Morshyn and then to Dolyna, Ivano-Frankivsk, Kolomyia, Verkhovyna.
The following thematic ways are supposed to be included in the regional network of bicycle tourist routes: "By castles", "By reserves", "By centers of crafts", " By historical places", "Along the Dniestr River", "By monuments of wooden architecture".
The initial stage in the marking of two bicycle routes in Drohobytskyi and Turkivskyi districts of Lviv region takes place.
