The Kyiv city state administration has passed a resolution to develop Independence Square in the downtown city.

Ukrainian News learned this from the press service of the Kyiv city state administration.

The resolution envisages further planting of greenery on the central square of the city, the reconstruction and change of the design of the information screen on the slope of Instytutska Street, regulation of outdoor advertising on the square, installment of temporary toilets during mass celebrations.

The resolution also provides for the repairs of the highway lighting, modernization of the illumination of Independence Square. The modernization of the illumination of the square will provide for holographic laser units and artistic illumination of facades of the buildings on the square.

The Kyiv city state administration has also decided to regulate the trade in the pedestrian subway on the square. The city will change fast-food restaurants that have no eligibly endorsed design documentation for outlets selling flowers, books, and the press.

The Kyiv city state administration also plans to introduce advanced technologies in cleaning the square.

As Ukrainian News earlier reported, the Kyiv city state administration in September 2007 decided to develop the territory of Independence Square and draft a design solution on improvement of the outlook of the square.

According to the plan, the department proposes to change the construction of Liadski Vorota arch and take care of its basement as a museum exhibit.

Besides, the resolution foresees repair and painting of the roofs of the houses located on Maidan Nezalezhnosti into terra-cotta, modernization of decorative illumination, and also change of electronic screen on the house of trade unions.

In accordance with former city mayor Oleksandr Omelchenko initiative, reconstruction of the central square of Kyiv was held on the 10th anniversary of Ukraine's independence, which was marked in August 2001.

Prevoius comments were written by foreign tourists, as I see.
The crime Kiev Goverment always steals money during the redecoration of Maidan.
My foolish Rando and Guest - you are likely not to know the fact that since 1994 Maidan design have been redecorated for 5 times!!!. And every time Kiev Authority steals money for rebuilding and redecoration. I hate them for their deals! For every foreign beholder who read this article - get to know, first of all, about history and reasons of these redecoration and then, strat thinking sober and sensible. Good Luck!

Just because your government is full of criminals doesn\'t mean the Maidan isn\'t a nice place to visit.

I have been delighted with the many good changes to Kyiv since I first visited in 1994. The city has developed beautifully in every way. If you improve it more I will be forced to move there. I hope to take my lovely wife to Kiev for the first time next year. I know that she will be impressed by the city and the people.
