Throughput of Aktau seaport (Kazakhstan) totals 3.2 mln t in Q1 09

In the first quarter of 2009, Aktau International Sea Trade Port handled 3.24 mln t of dry and oil cargo (+19.8% against plan), the port’s press center informs.

In the reported period, transshipment of dry cargo amounted to 392,100 tonnes including 57,900 tonnes of grain. In the 3-month period, the port handled 467 vessels.

In March 2009, the port handled 1.09 mln t of dry and oil cargo (+9.8% against plan).

The port of Aktau is located at the eastern shore of the Caspian Sea.

It is the only seaport of Kazakhstan to serve international transportation of dry cargo, oil and oil products. The port works all-the-year-round. In 2008, the port handled 266,000 tonnes of grain (+41.6%, year-on-year).
