The Kyiv city state administration said it will increase tariffs on all forms of public transportation begining November 1.

The new fare for the metro, buses, trams and trolleys will be two Hryvnia said Denis Bass the first vise-president of Kyiv state administration.

"Starting tomorrow the rise in the price public transportation, including metro will take effect,” Bass told.

However, he did not confirm that actual Kyiv state administration order had been signed.

As he said, this order should be carried out by Kyiv city council which has ordered the raise in tariffs. The Kyiv city council decided to raise the price in a September 30th meeting.

The rise is a four-fold increase in price, from 50 kopecks to two hryvnia

I would think that paying 0.5 hryvnas per ride would mean that the whole public transportation system is running at huge deficit. With an increase to 2 hryvnas they could probabaly come close to a level of self-sustaining.
