Experts in retail and mail ordering systems
Viskan Distanshandel AB, is located in Boras, Sweden.
Viskan started 1996 as a consulting company origin from JC clothing company (today RnB). Today Viskan have more than 40 customers all over the Europe. Among our customers we can mention Findus, Gina Tricot, Fleur de Sante. The main software system RAMOS, Retail and Mail Order System, can handle a large volume of customers, subscriptions and orders. Viskan has also developed a warehouse management system, WMS, and eStore, a module for Internet shopping.
Today Viskan has 24 employees, 7 are working in Ukraine, at Ciklum's office in Kiev. First contact with Ciklum was in August 2006 and very soon thereafter the first employee was hired. Soon after that 3 Swedish co-workers moved to Kiev and started to work together with the Ukrainian team.
The main purpose to open a developing department in Kiev was to change the developing platform from VB 6 to Java and to be able to quickly find and hire competence.
"- I had been looking for a way to start a development team outside Sweden for some time when I first came in contact with Ciklum", - says Mr Sten Selin, CEO. "As our system Ramos is very complex and it takes time to understand it and the business it supports we wanted to have our own staff that could work with our system for a longer period. All the offshoring companies I had contact with before Ciklum were either focused on taking on well defined time limited projects or were placed in India. For a smaller business as Viskan India was not an option when taking travelling and other practical issues in account. When I first heard out about Ciklum it seemed to be exactly what I was looking for and my experience so far has been very good. Ciklum understands the needs of Viskan and have always been able to help us out in the best of ways. The Ukrainian developers are also easy to work with and very ambitious. Our plan is to expand our Ciklum team further in the future!"
