The economically grounded hryvnia exchange rate is UAH 6.0 - UAH 6.5/$1 , Ukrainian Prime Minister Yulia Tymoshenko has said.
The devaluation of the hryvnia to UAH 10 - UAH 11/$1 is a result of the deliberate profiteering involving Ukrainian President Viktor Yuschenko, leadership of the National Bank of Ukraine, head of the presidential secretariat Viktor Baloha and businessman Dmytro Firtash, the premier said at a briefing in Kyiv on Saturday.
"The economically grounded hryvnia exchange rate is UAH 6.0 - UAH 6.5/$1," she said.
She stressed that there is no deficit of foreign currency in Ukraine.
According to her, the hryvnia rate is moving towards the economically justified figures. The rate of UAH 6.0 - UAH 6.5/$1 will allow supporting domestic exporters and improve the export-import balance.
