“I am hoping to issue a decree like that… It’s being prepared and will be agreed with the Kyivans – to limit entry into the city center for trucks and other cars,” mayor Leonid Chernovetskiy said on Oct. 20. “This is done for the sake of the residents who have no cars but are feeling the burden of their great number in the streets of Kyiv.”
It is unclear what parts of the city would have paid entry, and how much it would cost to get into the center. However, the mayor said the revenues will be directed to construct new roads, repair the existing ones and other “related purposes”.
