By the end of today’s trading session, the PFTS index fell 6.03 percent to 248.97 points.

Azovstal, whose stocks were the first securities suspended today, dropped almost 20 percent.

The turnover today fell 37.87 percent to $26 million while the number of trades grew 43 percent.

Today at 12:39 p.m. the PFTS suspended trading for one hour due to the sharp drop, triggered by negative news from world markets, oil price drops and the International Monetary Fund's wait-and-see attitude towards Ukraine.

The PFTS' year-high peak of 1198.22 came on Jan. 17 and followed a 130 percent rise in 2007. Since the start of the year, the PFTS index has fallen by more than 75 percent from 1160.34.
