Net profit of Sea Port of St. Petersburg totals RUR 41.2 mln


In January-September, 2008, net profit of Sea Port of St. Petersburg OJSC amounted to RUR 41.219 million against a loss of RUR 111.152 million a year ago, the ports materials read. In the reported period, the company’s revenue totaled RUR 931.006 million (up 1.3 times), gross profit – 1.4 times to RUR 108.530 million. Sea Port of St. Petersburg OJSC (Morport SPb) is the largest stevedoring company of the port of St. Petersburg. The shareholders of the company are structures representing Novolipetsk Integrated Iron and Steel Works OJSC (NLMK).

Russian crude exports down 5.6% to 1.3 bln bbl in Jan-Sep 08


Russia's crude exports declined 5.6% year-on-year to 182.1 million metric tons (1.3 billion barrels) in January-September, the Federal State Statistics Service said on Friday according to RIA Novosti. Crude accounted for 36% of all Russian exports and 51.8% of the country's energy exports in the reporting period, against 34.5% and 54%, respectively, in the same period in 2007. The average oil export price was $702.8 per ton in September, a drop of 13.8% against August, with Urals oil prices falling by 13% to $708.8 per ton on the global market.

Net profit of North Shipping Company up 87.6% to RUR 191.5 mln in Jan-Sep 08


In January-September, 2008, net profit of North Shipping Company OJSC totaled RUR 191.542 million (+87.6%, year-on-year), the company reports. In the reported period, the company’s revenue climbed by 25.5%, year-on-year, to RUR 3.186.053 billion, gross profit – by 94.8% to RUR 331.068 million, pre-tax profit – by 88.7% to RUR 250.279 million. Control stock of NSC (46,003%) is owned by Murmansk Shipping Company OJSC, 20% belong to the government.

In January-September, 2008, Murmansk Commercial Seaport increased its net profit by 7.4 times to RUR 663.923 million, Gudok referrs to the company’s financial reports according to Interfax. In the reported period, the company’s revenue grew by 82.5%, year-on-year, to RUR 2.103.335 billion. Customs fail to regulate Pakistan’s container terminals


Pakistan’s Customs authorities have failed to regulate the business of different container terminals in the country amid extraordinary fees, making imports very expensive, Business Recorder reported.Sources said that custom authorities have admitted the facts in different meetings with importers, but no summary was yet submitted to the government.The sources said Al-Hamd International Container Terminal (AICT), Karachi International Container Terminal (KICT) and Pakistan International Container Terminals (PICT) were charging different fees on same weights.
