We are pleased to announce the Conference “Interacting binaries: Accretion and Synchronization” to be held in the Crimean Astrophysical Observatory (Nauchny, Crimea, Ukraine) on June 20-26, 2008. CrAO is the largest observatory in Ukraine, which is widely known for it's research of constant and variable stars, the Sun and Solar system, AGNs, construction of telescopes and other astronomical activity. Crimean peninsula in summer is one of the most attractive places due to beautiful viewings and typically an excellent weather in the mountains. CrAO is located at an altitude of 650m in ~60 minutes of trip from the railway station in Simferopol with a connection to major cities in Ukraine and Russia and ~90 minutes from the Simferopol airport with flights to Kiev, Moscow, Istanbul and other cities.

The main topics of the conference will include both the observational and theoretical aspects concerning peculiarities of accretion and synchronization processes in binaries;

Accretion in the interacting binaries both close and wide with different secondaries from early to late spectral type
Low-Mass X-Ray Binaries, Massive X-Ray Binaries
Symbiotic stars,
Stream, column and wind-type accretion
Accretion onto gravimagnetic rotators (polars, asynchronous polars, intermediate polars)
Dwarf novae and active postnovae at different states of accretion
Intrinsic variability of components of binary systems
Mathematic modeling of structure and evolution of binary and multiple systems
Binary stars and astronomical education

Conference fee

The conference fee is 150 UAH (NIS), 75 UAH (for the young scientists and students) and 100 USD (other countries).
The conference fee covers: Welcome cocktail, coffee breaks, conference package and part of the social events organized by the LOC. The conference fee can be paid at the Registration Desk.

The number of participants is limited to 80 due to the observatory hotel capacity.
