Useful Tips for All Visitors to the U.S. Consulate
To facilitate your visit to the Consular Section of the U.S. Embassy in Kyiv, Ukraine for any type of visa services or American citizens services, please keep in mind:
- These items are not allowed inside the Consular Section:
- Bags, purses except diaper bags and wallets
- Backpacks
- Suitcases
- Weapons
- Electronics such as notebooks, iPods, PDAs, etc.
- Cameras
- Cosmetics
- Food and drinks
- Liquids
- Documents in closed (non-transparent) folders. Only transparent thin folders are allowed
- Medications (pills, spays, syringes etc.)
- Metal items such as coins, keys, as well as mobile phones, lighters, matches, etc. must be removed from pockets and presented for security screening.
- The consular section does not have a parking lot, and on-street parking is very difficult. We recommend that you use public transportation.
- Do not bring any luggage or other large items with you. You will not be able to bring personal baggage into the consular building. Only document files are allowed after a thorough search. If you are coming by train to Kyiv for an early morning visa appointment, you should make arrangements to leave your luggage elsewhere; it is a security risk to leave items on the street. Such items may be confiscated by local authorities.
- All visa applicants must have an appointment. No family members or friends who do not, themselves, have an appointment will be allowed into the building (except in the case of certain child applicants whose parents may accompany them). Unfortunately there is no waiting facility for family members nearby.
- The streets around the consulate are narrow. Waiting on the street is both inconvenient and potentially dangerous - especially for children – because of traffic.
- Our indoor visa waiting rooms are small; most visa applicants will wait in a covered out-door area for at least part of the morning, so please dress accordingly, based on the weather.
- If you have a scheduled visa appointment you should arrive 15 minutes prior to your appointment time in order to go through security. Please have your visa application completely filled out and signed and your photo attached to it.
- Please be sure that you pay your machine-readable nonimmigrant visa fee at ProCredit Bank before you come for your visa interview.
- Only U.S. cash is accepted for payment of other Consular/visa fees. Please advise the cashier of the type of visa or service you are requesting so that you are charged the correct amount.
Attention!
If you use electronic medical devices (such as hearing aids, pace makers, etc.), please inform the consular guards about this as soon as you arrive for your interview, so that they can obtain the necessary permission to bring them inside the consular premises.
Your attention to these details will help us serve you better. Thank you!
