Zhytomyr Oblast, 9 September 2005 -Ueli Mueller, Director of the Swiss Cooperation Office Ukraine (SDC) and CRDP team headed by the CRDP Project Manager Dr. Pavlo Zamostyan visited the UNDP/CRDP projects’ sites at Ovruch rayon (Zhytomyr oblast).
Mr. Mueller participated in the opening ceremony of the Youth Center and Village Health Center (FAP) at the village of Lystvyn and School Web-site at the village of Pershotravneve. Swiss Cooperation Office is one of the financial co-sponsors of the above mentioned projects.
In course of his visit Ueli Mueller acquainted with the process of the social and economic recovery at Lystvyn and Pershotravneve, communities mobilization, effective partnership between community organizations and local authorities, with work of the village youth and health centers, school web-sites, with problems community organization resolved and successes achieved, perspectives for future development.
The successful implementation of the projects at Lystvyn and Pershotravneve proved one more time a crucial importance of cooperation between local community organizations, authorities, donors and UNDP; the fruits of which lead to the visible improvement of the living conditions of population on the Chornobyl affected territories, to social and economic recovery of the region.
