ATM

Today all major cities of Ukraine have a huge network of cash dispensers, or simply ATMs. In Ukraine, an ATM will dispense money in local currency, that is in Hryvnias.

Foreign Banking

Banks in Ukraine usually work from 09:00 till 15:00, Monday through Friday. Most banks are closed on Saturday and Sunday. A standard lunch hour is from 13:00 to 14:00

Currency Exchange

Currency exchanges are readily available throughout the city and at the airport.  Never exchange money with private individuals on the street, since it's dangerous and illegal.

Ukrainian Money

The proclamation of Ukrainian independence on August 24, 1991 opened the way to introduction of the full-value national currency in Ukraine, called the Hryvnia with a UAH designation.

Travelers Checks

Traveler's checks are not widely accepted in Kiev. It's recommended not to bring them (or bring only as a backup), as you can expect a high commission rate and much paperwork.
