Siemens to supply CHP plant to Russia01/21/2008 | The Siemens Energy Sector has won a contract for a Combined Heat and Power Plant (CHP) in the Russian city of Perm in the Volga federal district. OJSC Territo-rial Generating Company No. 9 (TGC-9), the regional power company in Perm, has ordered key equipment from Siemens for the reconstruction of a more than 60-year old heat and power plant as part of a prioritized investment program in the region’s power supply and industrial development. The total volume of the order is roughly EUR100 million. |
The equipment supply to TGC-9 covers two SGT-800 gas turbines with a capacity of 47 megawatts (MW) each, one SST-600 steam turbine (28.3 MW) and two heat recovery boilers. The CHP unit will be installed in a specially constructed new building. In addition to supplying the power equipment including one generator, Siemens will be responsible for overall plant design and commissioning, including training of personnel and supervision of plant installation. As a result of the new investment project the thermal capacity of the Perm HPP-6 heat and power plant, which has been in operation since 1942, will increase from 57 MWt to 180 MWt. The new CHP plant, supplied from the Siemens industrial turbine facility in Finspong, Sweden, is scheduled to come on line in summer 2010. “With new Siemens CHP plant, the city of Perm will be able to produce the heat and power it needs for its industrial development”, said Jan-Erik Ryd?n, head of the Siemens industrial gas turbine business. “There is a huge demand for new energy infrastructure in Russia and Siemens has the right technology to deliver reliable and efficient solutions.” |
