Kalman MIZSEI, UN Assistant Secretary-General and UNDP Assistant Administrator, Director of the Regional Bureau for Europe and the CIS was appointed by the UN Secretary-General to represent him in the Forum of Community of Democratic Choice to be held in Kyiv on December 2, 2005.
This Forum is targeted at initiating effective mechanism for cooperation between leaders and heads of governments from countries of the Baltic, Black-Sea and Caspian region. Among the participants of this Forum will be the Presidents of Latvia, Lithuania, Estonia, Romania, Georgia, Moldova, Macedonia and Slovenia, as well as Vice President of Bulgaris, the Senate Speaker of Poland and Under Secretary of State of the USA. The Forum will be also attended by Secretary General of the OSCE, Council of Europe, BSEC and chiefs of the Council of the Baltic Sea States.
In the threshold of this event on November 30 – December 1, 2005 the International Public Forum of the Community of Democratic Choice will be organized to engage political and public leaders, civil society representatives to initiate a dialogue on ensuring democracy and stability in the region as a precondition for the lasting stability and security for the whole Europe. As a result of this discussion, the International Public Forum will produce the document to be considered and approved by participants of the Forum of Community of Democratic Choice on December 1, 2005.
