Lviv, Ukraine / Jul 19, 2003
With the help of the Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute Incubator
Center in upstate New York, a handful of talented Ukrainian
programmers with a dream and a vision founded SoftServe in the
summer of 1993. During the past ten years SoftServe has almost
doubled in size each year to become one of the largest privately
funded software companies in Eastern Europe, with more than 200
eminently qualified software engineers, managers and analysts.
SoftServe has achieved such remarkable growth by consistently
delivering world-class quality products and truly outstanding
service. Over the years, SoftServe has partnered with over fifty
companies worldwide on a wide range of products and services.
SoftServe’s commitment to superior service has led the firm
to continually invest in new technologies, in state-of-the-art
facilities, and most of all, in its dedicated employees.
The SoftServe 10th birthday party took place on a beautiful
sunny July 4th. The festivities began at 10 am when over 200 young
cheerful SoftServe employees boarded four chartered buses and
headed to a beautiful lake in the picturesque countryside not far
from Lviv. Everyone became familiar with the delightful
surroundings while drinking cold fresh Ukrainian beer (a favorite
drink at SoftServe).
At noon the formal part of the festivities began with speeches
by top management of SoftServe. Special recognition was given to
employees who had excelled in areas such as the most hours worked,
the greatest number of projects worked on and special contributions
made to SoftServe growth. Special gratitude was also expressed to
SoftServe clients and partners for their long-term confidence and
support.
After a hearty lunch, there were a variety of sports activities.
Previously organized SoftServe soccer and volleyball teams competed
fiercely for coveted awards. Sport fans had a unique opportunity to
a support favorite team by betting on it using special SoftServe
currency. In all, six soccer teams and five volleyball teams
participated in the competition. The two strongest soccer teams,
Top Management and Progress, ended up in the finale, with Progress
taking the honors. There were 20 volleyball games, with System
Admin team coming out on top. Later, there were other sporting
events and a chance to relax in the sun or to swim in the lake.
Hungry party-goers enjoyed a delicious dinner near the lake,
followed by more organized games. At 8 pm the great SoftServe
auction started, where SoftServe employees had a chance to spend
their hard-earned SoftServe currency by bidding for valuable
prizes.
The whole day was full of surprises. A highlight for many was a
superb performance by the best Ukrainian rock group, VV, well known
throughout Europe. A special stage had been constructed for the
event. Later at night, a magnificent display of fireworks delighted
everyone.
Everyone worked hard to make this a great party. Even angry
small mosquitoes seemed to be less indulgent. This event will be
remembered for a long time. SoftServe is now 10 years old!
