Beaches in Kiev

Kiev Beaches

Kiev is unusual as it has beaches right in the centre of the city. They are lively and crowded at summer weekends as well as weekdays. If you want to get away from the crowds, you’ll have to venture a bit further out of the city. Here is a list of some the quieter beaches:

Sun City
Metro Station Hydropark, Peredmistna Slobidka
This is a beach club located in Hydropark easily reachable by metro. There is a clean beach with relatively clean water but most foreigners prefer to tan on the beach and freshen up in the two swimming pools the club features. The service is very good if you go to the VIP section. For a fee you get a beach chair, parasol and service - you can order food and drinks. The admission fee is 50 Hryvnas for adult from Monday to Thursday, 60 Hryvnas on Fridays and 70 Hryvnas on Saturdays and Sundays. Kids go free! Adjacent to the VIP part is a beach where to admission is around 10 Hryvnas. There you can paly volleyball or of course, tan and swim.

Bukhta
Dniprovskaya Naberezhnaya, on the road to Boryspol
This is a caffee on the beach. It is a small intimate place with seating for about forty people with the beach front area which has clean sand and hammocks.

Trukhaniv Island
You will reach this place via the pedestrian bridge below the Friendship Arch. The sandy beaches are relatively clean but the water is not very nice and therefore better not swim there. Many vendors circle around with refreshments.

Ministerske Lake
Metro Geroev Dnepra
The beach is on the far side of the water, away from the road. There are usually shashlik kiosks but it is best to bring your own stuff for a picnic.

Blue Lake
About 25 kilometers south of Kiev, down the Novo-Obukhiv highway.
The water is fresh and clean. There are numerous cafes, parking is available, you can rent parasols and sun loungers.

Zhravushka Ozero (Stork Lake)
Head along the Brovarskyi Prospekt out of town until you get to Kalinivka, then turn left. Afterwards follow a tree-lined road until you see a sign to the “Lesnaya Taverna”. Low entrance fee for adults applies, children go free.

When the sky is bright blue and the air is hot, you can not think of anything more pleasant than lounging on a sandy beach and taking a swim in cool water every now and than. The only thing that can keep you from this enjoyment is the absence of a perfect swimsuit and aproppriate sun hat.
