The project “Building Community Media Centres in Rural Areas” is aimed at promoting a broader participation of rural population from remote areas (with a focus on vulnerable groups) in civic and cultural life by developing community media centres. The creation of community media centres will empower individuals and grassroots organizations with the skills and resources to use the community media – radio, video and photography as means of communication and covering the issues of community development.

The project is implemented by the Counterpart Creative Centre together with the partner organization Centre of Civic Initiatives and is funded by the European Union.

For participating in the project two rural districts from different regions of Ukraine will be selected.

Rural districts from the following regions are invited to participate in the project: Zaporizhzhya region, Luhansk region, Sumy region and Chernihiv region.

Application forms should be submitted by non-government organizations in partnership with local government by April 30, 2007.
