Interview with Pastor Sunday about his Recent Trips and an Overview of 2004 - Part II
Correspondent: What are substantial
achievements of the year 2004 for the church? And what, in your opinion, hasn't
been carried out?
Pastor Sunday: We try not to plan everything
exactly, but to trust God. Without doubt, the tenth anniversary of our church,
developing our international ministry and also democratic transformation in
Ukraine at the end of the year can be called the victories.
It's hard to say what we didn't do-…
Thousands of people repented in our church, but we didn't
succeed in keeping most of them in the Embassy of God.
Correspondent: Personally, what is your most
valuable achievement of the year? What did you manage to do? What do you
remember best?
Pastor Sunday: I think that the greatest
achievement for me is knowing Jesus Christ closer, and maintaining my walk with
Him and my relationship with the Holy Spirit. Concerning outside things, I spoke
on TBN four times, I had many trips, met with the president of Nigeria and with
leading pastors of the world and I had an opportunity to speak and give
interviews in America . I was greatly encouraged by the Summer and Winter Fasts,
in which the whole church participated. But it shouldn't be taken for granted,
it's the fulfillment of our responsibilities before God: You are Jesus Christ's
slave and carry out what He asks of you you.
Correspondent: A political question: what did
you expect from the election and how much were your expectations fulfilled?
Pastor Sunday: I expected a new power, a new
system to come to this country. I am glad that these all happened.
Correspondent: Continuing on the topic “The
Election,” let's talk about conflicts. They say after the first round of
presidential election in Ukraine your relationship with Leonid Chernovetskiy was
strained.
Pastor Sunday: Yes, we had, if it can be
called a conflict, a hard talk. Some church members complained that they hadn't
received the promised wages for their work during the first election campaign,
although it was freewill help. But I know that people must get what they deserve
and Chernovetskiy is a man who keeps his word. As far as I understood, he had
been misinformed by his assistants. That was the point. Now all the questions
are solved and we have a good relationship.
Correspondent: There is an opinion that when
the country has ungodly government, Christians should sit at home and only pray
because it's wrong to protest, as we do. What do you say about this?
Pastor Sunday: Jesus Christ and His disciples
were constantly accused of such things but they kept standing firmly in the
truth. I am sure that we should act the same way. For example, when they accused
Jesus of doing everything with the power of the devil, Jesus didn't agree with
those accusations. Before crucifying Jesus, they arrested Him and brought to
Herod, who asked Jesus many questions, but Jesus didn't answer his questions -
thus showing His protest. Also we can read in Acts the story when the
authorities forbade the Apostles to preach about Christ, but they went to the
square and preached the Gospel anyway. The apostles knew that they had to obey
God more then man.
And we have a position that first of all we should work at
establishing the Kingdom of God and obeying the Lord. We are sent by God to
change things and bring our country to a righteous way of life.
Correspondent: Pastor, what are your wishes
and expectations from the year 2005?
Pastor Sunday: I expect that this year will be
a year of banqueting for Christians who seek God. And I expect that Ukraine will
value righteousness more and more. Also I hope that the new power will satisfy
the expectations of the people.
