Udovički, UN Assistant Secretary-General, UNDP Assistant Administrator and UNDP Regional
Director for Europe and CIS has arrived on her first official five-day visit to
Ukraine
from 15 till 19 April.
During her stay in Kyiv, on 16
April, Ms. Udovički will open an International Conference on Poverty Alleviation
organized by UNDP in Ukraine.
UN Assistant Secretary-General is planning to meet with the President of Ukraine Viktor Yushchenko, Prime-Minister of Ukraine Yuliya Tymoshenko, Minster of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine Volodymyr Ohryzko, Chairman of Verkhovna Rada Arseniy Yatsenyuk.
Also, Ms. Udovički to hold
meetings with the representatives of international donor organizations and UNDP
partners in Ukraine.
On Saturday, 19 April, she will visit Simferopol
where meetings are planned with the representatives of local authorities of Crimea and meetings with technical assistance projects staff
implemented by UNDP Crimea Integration and Development Program.
BIOGRAPHICAL NOTE: Kori Udovički assumes her
responsibilities as an Assistant Secretary-General, Assistant Administrator of
UNDP and Director of the Regional Bureau for Europe
and Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS) since 1
February 2007.
Ms. Udovički is bringing to UNDP an impressive blend of work
experience from the non-governmental sector, government institutions, and from
the International Monetary Fund.
Udovički has held several senior management positions in the
Government of the Republic of Serbia. From July 2003 to March 2004 she served
as Governor of the National Bank of Serbia. Before that, from June 2002 to July
2003, she was the country’s Minister of Energy and Mines. Prior to those
appointments, from 2001, Udovički worked as a Special Adviser to the Minister of Finance and
Economy.
Ms. Udovički also has strong international
experience, including work as an International Monetary Fund economist focusing
on the former Yugoslavia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Zimbabwe and Mozambique.
Before her appointment in UNDP she has been serving as President of the
Center for Advanced Economic Studies, a Belgrade-based non-governmental organization
working to advance economic knowledge in Southeast Europe.
Ms. Udovički holds a Ph.D. (1999)
and a M.Phil.(1988) in Economics, both from Yale University.
She is married and has three children.
