Odesa, 11 March: At its 9th meeting today in Odesa, the Advisory Board of the EU Border Assistance Mission to Moldova and Ukraine considered reports about the most recent work of the Mission in cooperation with its partners in the Moldovan and Ukrainian border management and law enforcement services. UN Development Programme is EUBAM's implementing partner.

Kyiv, 4 March: Representatives from Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine [parliament], Ukrainian Government, leading national media outlets have met at a traditional press-lunch for journalists dedicated to this year’s theme of the International Women’s Day: "Investing in women and girls" to discuss the issues of equal opportunities of men and women in Ukraine.

29.02.2008 - Policemen learn how to prevent HIV in Ukrainian prisons
Chernihiv, 28-29 February: HIV/AIDS prevention and treatment provided in Ukrainian prisons should be based on human rights and be equal in terms of similar treatment services offered to other members of Ukrainian society, as many participants in the two-day educational seminar entitled “Human rights and HIV/AIDS in penitentiary institutions” have agreed.

Kyiv, 28 February: UNDP and the Committee of Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine [parliament] on State Construction, Regional Policy and Local Self-Government have signed a Partnership Agreement aimed at creating conducive environment for strengthening of decentralized governance for sustainable development in Ukraine.

Zhuravli (Saksky district, Autonomous Republic of Crimea), 22 February: Students of Zhuravli village school and their parents, assisted by the UNDP Crimea Integration and Development Programme, have decided to celebrate the International Mother Language Day, which is officially observed by the United Nations every year on 21 February.

15.02.2008 - UNDP motivates municipalities for adoption of the community-based approach to local development
Kyiv, 15 February: Within the framework of partnership between Novohrad-Volynskiy City Council and the UNDP-led Municipal Governance and Sustainable Development Programme the presentation of successful joint experience of local communities’ projects on sustainable development was held. In course of this meeting, its participants learned about the success stories watching the documentary film “A Step Ahead: How Ukrainian Communities Are Helping Themselves”, created by UNDP also based on the experience of Novohrad-Volynskiy communities. Speakers encouraged the representatives of local community-based organisations for more active participation in solving their own priority development problems.

Kyiv, 11 February: More than 30 Ukrainian regional and national mass media representatives together with experts of Consumer Society and Citizen Networks Project have studied the choice criteria for high quality chocolate products and learned healthy nutrition requirements during a specialised workshop for journalists.
