The newspaper of The Embassy of God was presented in the Supreme Court as a printed outlet that has influenced the election outcome in Ukraine.
At the last meeting of the Ukrainian Supreme Court dedicated to the consideration of V.F. Yanukovich's claims concerning the decision of the Electoral Commission, claiming the results of the election don't show the will of the people. As “evidence” they presented the Embassy of God newspaper. The presented issue was printed at the time of the Orange Revolution and contained an article on The Seven Principles of National Restoration.” In this issue Victor Yushenko was called the National President of Ukraine. Also the prosecution tried to present the Orange Revolution as “the movement of sects” and “illegal actions” and the events that took place on Independence Square as a “gathering of zombied people.”
Such an accusation had already been used by the Ukrainian powers at the end of 90 's, when they tried to put the leading evangelical church on the territory of CIS (Commonwealth of Independent States) The Embassy of God in the category of sect and wanted to remove its leader, Sunday Adelaja, from the country. But the court has confirmed the foolishness of such accusations just like it did the previous time. Later that night on January 20 the Supreme Court of Ukraine declared that the claim of Victor Yanukovich was not granted.
Despite that, there is still a request from Senator V.U. Homutynnik (a member of the “Regions of Ukraine” party) in The General Prosecutor's office concerning the “legality of the existence of the religious organization The Embassy of the Blessed Kingdom of God for All Nations on the territory of Ukraine and the legality of its leader Sunday Adelaja and his being involved in illegal business that is the publication of unregistered newspaper and its distribution; making illegal advertisement and propaganda; agitation before the election in support of Victor Yushenko in Kyiv.” In spite of the phone calls from the public prosecutor's office to Pastor Sunday Adelaja, the Embassy of God Church and people of Ukraine are celebrating the victory of democratic power. The parishioners of the church took an active participation in the inauguration of President Victor Yushenko on January 23.
The Embassy of God took thousands of its members to Independence Square, where they joined thousands of other citizens of Ukraine to congratulation the newly elected president, Victor Yushenko.
