The March for Jesus
The purpose of this march is to glorify the name of Jesus Christ and to unify Protestant churches for the spreading of the gospel. This year the March for Jesus is being organized by the Ukrainian Interchurch Council.
The vision of the "March for Jesus" was conceived as early as 1987 in Britain. At that time, a March in London gathered 15,000 people. Christians of different denominations initiated these marches. Today the Marsh for Jesus is conducted in the majority of World’s nations and unites millions of believers.
It is interesting to note that the Marsh for Jesus is not an innovation in Ukraine. For several years it was conducted in different cities of Ukraine. In Kyiv, the March was held for the first in 2001, and was called the March of Life. The first March of Life was sponsored by Love Rehabilitation Center, and the Embassy of the Blessed Kingdom of God for All Nations helped with the organization. The March takes place on the central streets of Kyiv and tens of thousands of believers from all Ukraine take part.
This year the organizational committee of the March for Jesus decided to change the date of the March from spring to summer. More innovation follows as the march will have five separate columns beginning at different ends of the city and after passing through the main streets of Kyiv, all five groups will converge on Maidan Nezalezhnosti.
