What is GSM?

GSM (Global System for Mobile Communications) is one of the world's leaders in the area of digital cellular communication systems and is ranked among the second-generation (or 2G) products. The GSM network was launched in 1991. In late 90s of the last century the GSM was successfully introduced in more than 100 countries of the world and became "de-facto" the mobile communication standard in Europe and Asia.

The most popular standards GSM-900 and GSM-1800 were designed in 1992 as European standards.

MTS Ukraine launched the network of GSM-900 standard in 1997 and the GSM-1800 in early 2001. Thanks to two-standard GSM phones that support GSM-900 and GSM-1800, you may enjoy the benefits of both standards! Two-standard phone may be automatically connected to the network that provides more powerful signal, guaranteeing the high quality of your communication.

Today MTS Ukraine provides the broadest coverage in Ukraine and international roaming, offers more supplementary services and benefits.
