| 23 May 2007 On May 21-22 in his first working visit, new head of the Border Guards of Belarus - Mr. Igor Rachkovsky visited Latvia. During his visit, he exchanged information on common border and participation in the international projects, as well as shared experience on international funds. Latvian side informed Belarus on the planned changes in view of joining Schengen in January 2008. Delegations also discussed possibilities for new agreements of simplified border crossings for the persons living close to the border, and infrastructure at check points. Belarus delegation visited Silene border crossing point, BG college, cynology centre and the new sports centre. Belarusian delegation met with the Minister of Interior Ivars Godmanis too.
