Completion of project on enhancement of border management in Belarus

On April 19-20 within the framework of a long-term cooperation between the State Border Guard Committee of the Republic of Belarus, European Committee, United Nations Development Programme a joint session of the Advisory Boards of the projects EU/UNDP “Enhancing Border Management in the Republic of Belarus” (BOMBEL-1) and “Enhancing the System of Immigration Control at the State Border of the Republic of Belarus” (BOMBEL-2) will be held in Brest. As per the agenda, opening ceremony of a new accommodation centre for migrants is planned, highlighting the completion of the BOMBEL-1 project and progress of implementation of BOMBEL-2.

The Chairman of the State Border Guard Committee of the Republic of Belarus Colonel Igor Rachkovsky, UN Resident Coordinator/UNDP Resident Representative in the Republic of Belarus Ms. Cihan Sultanoglu, Ambassador of the European Commission’s Delegation to Ukraine, Moldova and Belarus Mr. Ian Boag are scheduled to participate in the event.

Heads of representations of UNHCR and the IOM in the Republic of Belarus, representatives of embassies of Great Britain and France to the Republic of Belarus, officials of the Ministry of the Interior, State Customs Committee and State Border Guard Committee expressed a desire for taking part in the session.
