Moldova-Estonia ministerial meeting

A meeting between interior ministry delegations of Estonia and Moldova took place 27 February in the Migration and Refugee Office under the MoI of the Republic of Moldova. The Estonian delegation was represented by Martin Sepp, Director of the Visa and Illegal Migration Bureau, Department of Nationality and Migration, Ivar Zhung, information technology expert of that department, and Kuido Merits, Estonian adviser at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and European Integration of Moldova. The Estonian officials had a meeting with Valentyn Zubik, Deputy Minister of Interior, and Vyacheslav Bynzar, Director of the Migration and Refugee Office.

Valentyn Zubik noted that Moldovan law enforcement authorities pay special attention to the fight against organized crime, human trafficking, arms and drugs trafficking, and illegal migration, reiterating the need to cooperate to combat these phenomena. During the visit, the Estonian officials learned the achieved progress in this field. Questions were raised about migration control mechanisms and use of information technology, and it was suggested to conclude an agreement on cooperation in combating illegal migration.
